BIRTHDAYS · MILE END

EVERYONE MAKES
SOMETHING. TOGETHER.

The birthday person paints free, the cake is welcome, and everyone leaves holding something they made.

Total concentration, brieflyBirthday person paints free.

Birthdays

THE BIRTHDAY PERSON PAINTS FREE

Celebrate your birthday at ArtChaos and your painting is on us. Bring your own cake, there is no cake fee, and food and drinks are at the bar in the same room, so nobody has to organise a meal somewhere else.

How it works

Do less thinking.
Make more.

01

Arrive

We are at 31 Saint-Viateur Est, in Mile End. Street parking is on Saint-Viateur and the streets around it: some days plenty, some days less. By metro, get off at Laurier and walk fifteen minutes, or take the 55 bus along Saint-Laurent and get off at Saint-Viateur. At the door you sign a short disclaimer, then we hand you an apron and gloves, because there is always a chance of paint on you. Your Art Master walks you to your station.

02

Practice

Before anything that counts, a practice canvas. Your Art Master shows the machine, the bottles and the two or three movements that do most of the work, then you try them yourself. Nothing important can go wrong here, and most people find their colours in these five minutes.

03

Create

Then the real one. You choose the colours, you decide when to pour and when to spin, and the table does the rest. If you want, we take photos while you work and with the finished piece, and email them to you privately. Nothing is published.

04

Stay

The wet canvas goes into the drying oven for fifteen to twenty minutes. That is the moment for the bar on the other side of the room: a cocktail, a beer, something without alcohol, a snack, and an opinion about everyone else’s canvas.

05

Leave

Once it is dry, the canvas goes into a bag and home with you, along with the hour you spent making it. Next time, try a different technique: nobody has made the same canvas twice.

Birthdays

SMALL GROUP, BOOK ONLINE. BIGGER, SEND A REQUEST

For a smaller birthday, book your stations online. Closer to thirty people, send us a group request instead: bigger groups need a little planning around stations and timing. Either way, every guest makes a final piece and takes it home.

Two kinds of birthday

For kids.
For adults.

Same room, same hour, same rule: everyone makes something. What changes is the price, the drinks and who needs a hand.

  • The birthday child paints free.

Grown-ups

An adults’ birthday night

A paint and sip birthday: the session, then the bar, then the comparing of canvases. Nobody has to be good at it, and the birthday person does not pay.

  • Adult price $39; Premium with every colour and glitter, $52.
  • The birthday person paints free.
  • Cocktails, wine, beer and bites at the bar in the same room.
  • Fewer than twelve book stations online; from twelve, the room can be yours, up to 50.
  • Bachelorettes, thirtieths, fortieths: the canvas goes home as the souvenir.

Good questions

Before you book.

The things people ask us most, answered quickly.

Does the birthday person pay?

No. The person celebrating their birthday paints free.

Can I bring a birthday cake?

Yes. Birthday groups can bring a cake at no extra charge. Outside food and drinks are otherwise not permitted; the bar is in the room.

How large can a birthday group be?

Small groups book online. For larger parties, especially groups approaching thirty guests, send us a request so we can plan the stations and timing.

Can children participate?

Yes. ArtChaos is popular with families and children. Published child pricing applies to ages 5–13, and children under 4 are free. Adults should supervise young children.

How long does an experience take?

A regular session runs 60 minutes. Larger private group events can run for two to three hours.

Does the artwork need to dry?

Yes, and we do it here. The finished canvas goes into the drying oven for fifteen to twenty minutes, and you take it home the same day.

What should I wear?

Protective equipment is provided, but paint is part of the experience. Wear comfortable clothing and shoes you would not mind bringing into a creative studio.
